#214 - Two Very Different Award Nominated Editors in Conversation

This will make sense at the end...

As it's awards season, it's easier than every to hear from some extremely talented editors on the craft behind their nomination worthy work.

In this issue of Cut/daily I wanted to share two fascinating interviews with two editors at opposite ends of their careers, working on two very different projects: Licorice Pizza and Flee.

Licorice Pizza is Paul Thomas Anderson's latest feature film, edited by Andy Jurgensen, which is nominated for 3 Oscars and 5 BAFTA's, including Best Editing, and an Eddie for Best Comedy Feature.

This marks Andy's first feature film editing credit but he's worked for Anderson for years as an editor on his music videos for Haim and Radiohead, among others, and as a 1st Assistant on Inherent Vice and Associate Editor on Phantom Thread.

Flee is an animated documentary nominated for both an Oscar and a BAFTA for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Documentary, as well as an American Cinema Editors 'Eddie' for Best Editing Documentary Feature.

Flee is edited by 71 year old Janus Billeskov Jansen, who has been editing feature films for over 50 years! Some of his recent credits include films such as Another Round and The Good Traitor.
