Should you be a specialist or a generalist?

A specialist knows a lot about one thing, while a generalist knows a little about a lot of things.

That's the question at the heart of today's issue of Cut/daily and we'll look at from the perspective of a VFX position that I had no idea existed; the (VFX) generalist.

Although ILM's definition just makes them sound like they're really good at everything! As opposed to, pretty OK at most things...
