Scan your hard drives once, find everything forever

Colorist and Editor Nikolai Waldman, CSI, has created a nifty little app called MediaDB which will scan your hard drives (I can count 14 drives within eye-sight right now - yeesh) and create a database of the media stored within.

Now you have the power to search for the needle in your proverbial haystack.

Find what you need, plug in only the drive you need, once.

You can even hand it an EDL and it will tell you where the files you need are, and - if you use another of Nikolai's apps, Resolve Collect - copy all of the files into a single location.

Sounds like a huge timesaver to me!

MediaDB and Resolve Collect cost $40 a piece.

Free DaVinci Resolve Scripts and Tools

Nikolai also offers several free tools and 5 useful DaVinci Resolve scripts on his site. Hoover them up!

  • CommentSlip – Slip marker placements based on a new TC Start Time in a DaVinci Resolve compatible EDL.
  • QC2Resolve – Turn QC reports into DaVinci Resolve markers EDL
  • Refresh Clip – Force Resolve to update a clip without opening and closing the app.
  • Queue Selected Timelines – Render multiple timelines with the same settings.
