#462 – Be Kind Rewind: (Probably) The Greatest Editor Audio Commentary of All Time

Or at least, I think so.

Cut/daily is taking its traditional August break.

So for the next three weeks, I'll be sharing some of my favourite previous issues as part of our usual Be Kind Rewind routine.

Last week, we revisited what I think is probably the best thing I've written on Cut/daily: #433 – How to become great in the age of AI.

One Cut/daily reader kindly wrote to say:

It’s so on point and so well said.

There are many ideas you bring up that, especially focused on art, hit notes I hadn’t thought of or read elsewhere.  I’ve re-read the post multiple times now.

It's a bit of a beast, but hopefully one with some interesting ideas to chew on and rabbit holes to explore, if you're so inclined.

But now for something completely different.

Originally published in July 2021, this vintage issue of Cut/daily is technically one you'd need to upgrade to Archive Access to read.

But it's too good not to share, so here it is anyway!

If you want complete access to all 450+ previous issues and hundreds of hours worth of Post Production Insights, you can easily upgrade at any time for a one-off fee of $49.

#069 - (Probably) The Greatest Editor Audio Commentary of All Time?

So, I love a good filmmaker commentary track.*

I especially love a good commentary track when it features the editor.

(My wife begs to differ that anyone else actually listens to these things...)

To my delight, I stumbled across this site, thedirectorscommentary.tumbler, that not only has a huge collection of audio commentary tracks you can freely download, but 15 of them feature the film's editor too.

*Let me know if you find any good ones!

Obviously, listening to the commentary track without the visual is not the optimal way to enjoy an audio commentary track, so when you find one you like go out and buy the film on DVD or Blu-ray and enjoy it at its best.

The rest of this post is waiting for you when you subscribe for free, plus you'll get a free issue of Cut/daily in your inbox every Friday!
