#484 – Something new

Nothing ventured...

Writing Cut/daily is one of the highlights of my week.

I get to learn something new, try something new, meet someone new, or create something new and share that with you, my dear readers.

(I hope you enjoy all that too? If you do, tell your friends!)

So I strive to make Cut/daily the best it can be, which means experimenting with new things; apps, training, consultations, video interviews, bookmarks, and other fun things.

Some things will work. Others will fail.

That's OK, ‘fortune favours the brave’ as they say.

(And I have a high tolerance for embarrassment.)

Thus, a new opportunity has emerged that I'm considering, but before I leap into it, I would find it incredibly helpful to hear how you feel about it.

Does this sound fun?

Cut/daily Meets... is our regular interview series that, once every 5 weeks, puts the thoughts, feelings, career learnings, and technical workflows of a fellow editor into your hands.

So far, I've scheduled Meets... once every 5 weeks, so it is something to look forward to, without skewing the balance of content Cut/daily delivers – I try to keep things practical-focused most of the time!

What I love about Cut/daily Meets... is that I get to learn from and be inspired by the hardworking, intelligent, and entertaining post-production professionals serving in all corners of the industry.

For example:

The question that I'm actually asking.

All that to say, the potential opportunity now is to turn Cut/daily Meets... into a sister newsletter to Cut/daily, one that would deliver a concise interview with an editor every week (or maybe every other week?), providing a regular window into the life and edit suite of a fellow Post Pro.

The continuing goal of these Cut/daily Meets... interviews would be to:

  • Pull back the curtain on some impressive projects
  • Put a human face on the talented editors behind them
  • Help you advance in your career through their shared wisdom, workflow insights, and humbling failures

If I did that, would you enjoy reading it...?

Would you prefer Cut/daily Meets...

Every 5th week, the two newsletters would fall in sync with a single Cut/daily Meets... interview being read by all subscribers.
