#506 – Trailers, Trailers, Trailers

Aren't the trailers one of the best parts of going to the movies?
I think so.
Especially when the trailers are this good.
Here are two recent favourites, both displaying excellent editing in radically different ways.
In this Issue, we'll dig into some excellent resources for crafting compelling trailers like these - an archetype for condensing emotional resonance into a concise format.
A valuable skill for any editor to master.
But first...
On a recent corporate job I was trying to get a client to sign off on various versions of a shot - flicking back and forth between files and folders on frame.io while screensharing hopelessly in (their choice) Microsoft Teams.
What would have been far more effective is using Louper’s new version comparison tool to instantly compare and contrast assets in a technically accurate and secure live stream environment.
I know this because I’ve been playing around with this month’s Cut/daily partner, Louper's new features, and seeing the error of my ways.

Cut Something, Get Hired

Just a quick call-back to this previous Issue of Cut/daily about how editor Jonathan Nyiri went from cutting (really good) fan trailers to landing an internship at an LA-based post-house.
He's now an Assistant Editor at trailer shop Requiem. So kudos to him.
The rest of the post also covers the career tactics of another editor who went from cutting UFC fight-promos to major trailers too.
All in all, well worth a read!
